- The Floral City Garden Club: Our mission is simple: to bring people together for the joy of gardening, the art of floral design, and the protection of our beautiful natural resources. Through civic beautification and educational scholarships, we work every day to leave our community better and brighter than we found it.
- Founded on October 12, 1956, and officially joining the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC) in 1958, we’re proud of our history—but we’re not your grandmother’s garden club anymore! Today, we are a vibrant, active non-profit serving our community. We welcome absolutely anyone who shares a passion for learning, laughing, and growing things in the unique climate of Central Florida.
- Our Living Legacy: The Memorial Garden & Labyrinth What started in 1965 as a simple five-year plan to landscape the local library grounds has blossomed into a beloved, ongoing community treasure. In 1993, the space was transformed into our Memorial Garden, and by 1995, we completed our unique walking labyrinth. Filled with handmade steppingstones, inviting benches, and a peaceful birdbath, the garden was dedicated to the community on October 27, 1996. While it began as a place to honor deceased Garden Club members, it quickly grew into a sanctuary for all of Floral City to remember and celebrate their loved ones .
- Cultivating the Community To keep our community projects thriving, we stay busy with creative fundraisers. Over the years, we’ve hosted everything from formal Flower Shows and Yard Sales to elegant Garden Teas, Art Shows, and Secret Garden Tours. Since 1994, our signature Spring Annual Plant Sale has been our main event, allowing us to generate the funds needed to maintain our civic spaces and give back.
- What We Do Today We believe a club should be active and meaningful. Today, our members:
- Nurture the Town: We proudly maintain two beautiful public gardens in Floral City and love “dressing up” the iconic Avenue of the Oaks with festive bows for the holidays.
- Support the Future: We provide educational scholarships and proudly sponsor the youth and staff at Camp E-Nini-Hassee.
- Grow Together: We meet monthly from September through May. Every meeting features an exciting educational program, a guest speaker, or our popular “Plant of the Month” showcase.
- Between our monthly gatherings, fun field trips, and the regular gardening tips on our website, we stay connected, stay inspired, and—above all else—we have fun!
